Outfit of the Day
Last night was not only Thanksgiving but it was also the 5th anniversary of my 21st birthday! Therefore, my outfit of the day called for something a little extra special. I was wearing a brand spanking new Zara dress (red and black with faux leather sleeves), Kensie faux suede/patent leather MaryJanes, a black gunmetal belt, and a vintage Carolina Herrera purse. I was also wearing black on black zebra print nail art. I consider this outfit to be edgy downtown chic with feminine touches.

Outfit of The Day
My first Outfit of the Day Post! Yay! I love seeing other people's outfit of the day and so I'm finally going to start posting some myself here. I have posted a few on Instagram before but I'm committing myself to doing it more regularly here.
Speaking of Instagram...follow me! I'm @jessicayflores.
Today I'm wearing S.E. Boutique By Sam Edelman boots, H&M skirt, Kinross Cashmere sweater and a black/metal belt.

American Yogini Yoga and Juice Cleanse Retreat
We returned on Sunday from an amazing yoga and juice cleanse retreat at American Yogini. We got an amazing 3 day/2 night deal through Bloomspot. We absolutely loved it. It was the best $400 I've ever spent! Not only do I feel physically lighter (good-bye 2 lbs in addition to the 3lbs I lost doing a soup diet before the retreat!) but I also feel mentally and spiritually lighter thanks to all of the yoga and meditation we did.
It was a truly wonderful experience and we plan to return again and again. Watch my more detailed review of American Yogini above and check out some of my photos below.

Adventures in Baking
I decided I was going to bake some brownie pops for Halloween. Having a child has really inspired me to get into the kitchen more than I could have ever imagined. I want to make her delicious meals. I want to bake her yummy treats. As Halloween approached, I just knew I had to make her something special even if she had no idea what it was or would ever remember it (she's 16 months old now).
I went into my local Bed Bath & Beyond and purchased a brownie pops kit by Wilton. I practiced the Monday night before Halloween (as we waited for Hurricane Sandy to hit NYC) making a batch of not-so-pretty but still delicious brownie pops. I covered them in chocolate, added some candy eyes, a few sticks of pretzels in them and called them "spooky spiders". Catalina devoured them (once she figured out they were meant to be eaten).
On Halloween afternoon, I went into my kitchen for the real show. The outcome? Not too shabby if I do say so myself. Below are a few images of my spooktacular creations. What do you think?
Convinced I had now become a baking queen, I went on to bake these two beautiful looking pumpkin pies.
They're gorgeous, aren't they? Too bad I forgot to add sugar to my mixture! I wound up saving them by sprinkling sugar on the top of the pies before they cooled and serving them with ice-cream and whipped cream.
What can I say? You win some. You lose some.
